The Man with the Huge Organ

A majestic beast given its earth-trembling roar by 3,568 pipes—some less than an inch long, others extending as high as 32 feet—the Martin Foundation Concert Organ devours the Schermerhorn’s acoustic space the way a T. rex clamps down on a stegosaurus. To feel its full power, hear organist Vincent Dubois perform Bach’s Sinfonia from Cantata No. 146, Franck’s Choral No. 2 in B minor, Vierne’s Scherzo and Final from Symphonie No. 2, and Durufle’s Suite for Organ, Op. 5. Tickets start at $22.50.
