The Kathy Chiavola Band

When: Sat., May 28, 9 p.m. 2011
Price: $15
Let’s throw caution to the wind and certify that Ms. Chiavola is the only person to have sung with not only Garth Brooks, Red Allen and Daniel O’Donnell, but also Steve Earle, Victor Wooten and John Oates, to pluck only a few names from the list of folks she’s recorded with. Yet despite the breadth of her abilities, bluegrass has been one of her most consistent interests, and through sheer perseverance — not to mention those abilities, which include a deep familiarity with the works of Bill Monroe — she’s worked her way into the ranks of Nashville’s most esteemed bluegrass singers. She doesn’t serve it up often enough to have a steady band, but thanks to said esteem, Chiavola can choose from the city’s best to accompany her, and they’re wise enough to know that the show is all about her singing — sometimes delicate, sometimes robust, sometimes soaring and sometimes gutsy, but always right where the song needs it to be.
