The Goon 15th Anniversary Party feat. The Protomen, Urizen & more

When: Sat., March 8, 8 p.m. 2014
Price: $10
Fifteen years ago, prodigiously strong antihero Goon and his wiseguy pal Franky began wreaking havoc at the business end of local author-artist Eric Powell’s pen, treating the malicious undead, unsavory mobsters, and others foolhardy enough to get in their way like a string of Gordian knots. Tonight’s anniversary party will be a slightly more civilized affair, featuring performances by our favorite rock ’n’ roll army of human-robot hybrids — The Protomen — as well as Urizen, whose intense metal-chiptune mashup emanates from a secret bunker near Dallas. For the first time tonight, fans will also get a peek at the fruits of the massive Kickstarter campaign mounted in the fall of 2012: a feature-length video showreel, consisting of storyboards with sound effects and music, meant to convince Hollywood execs to get behind the Goon movie that David Fincher agreed to produce before the 10th anniversary party. Maybe the bums will get in line now — if they know what’s good for ’em.
