The Glass Menagerie

When: Thursdays-Sundays. Continues through Feb. 27 2011
Price: $35; $20 for students
On the heels of its holiday triumph with A Christmas Carol, the ambitious Studio Tenn Theatre Company returns with yet another classic piece of dramatic literature. This year being the 100th anniversary of Tennessee Williams’ birth gets us a grand revival of the American master’s first generally acclaimed play — brooding, painful and pathetic, yet poetic — featuring indelible characters in the emotionally battered Wingfield family and a “Gentleman Caller” who portends psychic salvation. The casting is pregnant with potential: Music City theater doyenne Nan Gurley is Amanda; Ellie Sikes, excellent in A Christmas Carol, is Laura; the busy Eric Pasto-Crosby is Tom; and Brent Maddox, who appeared last year in Actors Bridge’s memorable Vincent in Brixton, is Jim — maybe the most important extended cameo role in the history of American theater. Matt Logan directs.
