The Frog Bride

When: Sat., Dec. 11, 2 p.m. 2010
Price: $14; $11 for children
The Family Field Trip Series’ holiday-season offering merges a classic Russian fairy tale, “The Frog Princess,” with lively video, original jazz, the music of Sergei Prokofiev and the storytelling artistry of David Gonzalez. Painter Wassily Kandinsky provides the stunning backdrops for this hip but family-friendly adaptation of a coming-of-age story, which is widely considered one of the world’s great works of folk literature. Gonzalez, of New York’s Rain Art Productions, pulls off the tour de force enacting with wonder and comic sparkle every one of the show’s roles, including princes, frogs, witches and one very enchanted young lady. The musical accompaniment is live. One hour prior to the show, the theater lobby is transformed into a fun, interactive space for youngsters, featuring activities and giveaways.
