The Food Show: Art Feeds People at Cumberland Gallery

Anti-Starving Artists

Anti-Starving Artists
From community-supported agriculture to record-breaking food stamp enrollment, we've got our attention these days on all things nutritive and gustatory. The Cumberland Gallery brings a huge variety of artistic perspectives to the topic of food with its Art Feeds People fundraiser, running through Feb. 27. The array of exhibitors includes Andy Saftel, Ron Porter, Marilyn Murphy and Barry Buxkamper, with Daisy King (yes, that's the Miss Daisy of cookbook fame) donating light fare at the Feb. 6 opening reception from 6-8 p.m. And for this month's Art After Hours, the gallery hosts readings by editor/publisher Paulette Licitra and others from the literary magazine Alimentum. The journal's contents range from ode to essay, all orbiting around the subject of food. Fifteen percent of the show's proceeds will go to the Second Harvest Food Bank, and donations of money or non-perishable food are also requested from visitors.
Tuesdays-Saturdays. Starts: Feb. 6. Continues through Feb. 27, 2010
