Alan LeQuire is responsible for Nashville’s most iconic human figure sculptures. “Athena” in the Parthenon and “Musica” on the Music Row roundabout are not just works of art — they are symbols of the city. Tonight, get to know LeQuire through some of his smaller, more intimate studies in clay. He teams up with figure painter Juliette Aristides for a celebration of the human form. The artists are a perfect match. Aristides, like LeQuire, runs an atelier for training students in the classical style. Both artists are well-established in their fields: Aristides has published multiple books as an authority on figure drawing, and LeQuire’s “Athena” is featured regularly in college textbooks. Together, their work explores classical technique in a contemporary setting, and offers a seamless pairing of 2-D and 3-D art.
