The Family Wash Pie Drive Kickoff

When: Fri., Nov. 30, 9 p.m. 2012
For a lot of East Nashville folks, The Family Wash is synonymous with shepherd’s pie. Sure, there’s great live music and a nice beer selection at the welcoming neighborhood pub, but it’s the delectable shepherd’s pie — the ultimate comfort food, available in meat and vegetarian versions — that put the Wash on the map. In the spirit of the season, The Family Wash is hosting its first pie drive: Customers will be able to buy shepherd’s pies for just $5 (they normally sell for $11) to be donated to Room in the Inn and other homeless shelters around town. All you have to do is cough up a fin (or more, if you’re feeling especially generous), and the club will take care of the rest, delivering hot pies to homeless Nashvillians once a week throughout December. The drive kicks off Friday night with a special holiday-themed show — a cast of local luminaries will take the stage to entertain and put you in the giving mood — and continues through December. Wash owner Jamie Rubin and Eastwood Studios owner Eric Fritsch are teaming up for the drive. They hope to sell at least 100 pies in the drive’s first week. Stop by tonight to help Rubin meet his goal and, more importantly, provide nice warm meals to folks who need them most.
