In case you missed it, ’70s million-unit-movers The Doobie Brothers (aka The DoBros) regrouped for a throwback record last year. And unless you hang around casinos a lot, you definitely might have missed it. 2010’s
World Gone Crazy saw the serial reuniters reunite with producer Ted Templeman, who helmed the hits of their Michael McDonald era. And for an album with a song called “Law Dogs” on it,
World Gone Crazy is actually a lot better than it deserves to be — it’s got hooks here and there, uptempo blue-eyed soul, all that shit. But it’s still a Doobie Brothers record from 2010, kind of a tough sell. Even so, the band is still more than willing and able to take tunes new and old to the seats (pews, actually) at the Ryman tonight. So, oh, oh saddle up and listen to the music.
