The Dirty Nil w/Pears, High, Skoolgirl, I'm an Island & Save/Quit

When: Fri., Aug. 1, 7:30 p.m. 2014
The trend of well-promoted, nationally touring bands opting not to skip Nashville anymore is awesome, and I hope it never stops. But it’s also great when up-and-comers consider our fair Music City as a solid choice for growing their fan base. Tonight’s offering is a stacked six-layer sampler platter that includes a trio of touring acts, featuring New Orleans fuzz-punks HiGH, poppy and quippy Crescent City hardcore outfit PEARS and hard-hitting Ontario proto-grunge group The Dirty Nil. Not to be outdone, the locals are out in equal force, starting with Save/Quit, who make exactly the sort of groovy indie rock you’d like from former members of The Joy of Painting; the ever-mutable Skoolgirl and their nervy alt-rock inspired jams; and a solo set from J. Gardner, the bedroom-pop mastermind behind I’m an Island. STEPHEN TRAGESER
