The Dean Martinis at Sambuca

Ain't That a Kick in the Head

Ain't That a Kick in the Head
Unlike most of America, we take our lounge music very, very seriously: our cocktails are like communion, our Esquivel back-tattoos a consecration of our faith. So we were pleasantly surprised to find that The Dean Martinis have all the swing and schmaltz of their namesake, St. Dino of Boozetopia. Avoiding the austerity of Enoch Light but lacking the exoticism of Martin Denny (what, no bird noises?), The Dean Martinis put the easy back into easy listening. On songs like “Library Anne” and “Monica Erotica” the Dean Martinis pour on the dry wit while shaking and stirring some sauce-y swing. Ba-dum-PAH! Thank you, thank you, we’ll be here all week. Remember, the 7:30 show is always different from the 9:30.
