The Crystal Method at Limelight

Lost in Space?

Lost in Space?
It’s time for another one of those block rockin’ beats! No, that’s not it. I want to praise you like I, uh, something. Lager, lager, lager? No. Wait, we got it: How ’bout “Back once again it’s the Renegade Master, default damager, power to the pee…” Uh, no. Oh, wait, we remember: Get busy child! While we might have a little trouble remembering the hooks to the biggest songs of the late-’90s rave movement—we were raving quite hard, mind you—even we would be hard-pressed to forget the badassery that is a Crystal Method show. Frequently slagged as just an American version of the Chemical Brothers, the Crystal Method actually played a critical role in bringing live performance of electronic music to the masses. Their high-energy blend of electro squiggles, hip-hop beats and big, booming bass was essential to electronica’s entrance into mainstream consciousness…for better or worse.
