The Coolin System CD Release feat. Uncle Skeleton

When: Sat., March 26, 9 p.m. 2011
Price: $7
We'll admit that we've been going on about these guys a lot lately (OK, the last couple of years) but there's a reason for it — a swingin', soulful jazz outfit of this caliber is a rare thing in this day and age and we're not about to let them slip through the cracks. Have you heard their new self-titled record on G.E.D. Soul Records? It's frickin' awesome, chock full of great interpretation of soul-jazz classics from all-time greats like Yusef Lateef and Duke Pearson. It's a sweet slice smoothed out, funked up shingaling-ing goodness. But it ain't got a thing on their live set, which is hands down one of the hottest tickets in town – it's the sort of sweat-drenched, rump-shaking affair that music critic dreams are made of. The System is joined by local indie-electro auteur Uncle Skeleton.
