Mary Chase's comedy, about an incredibly affable fellow and his oversized imaginary rabbit friend, was immortalized in the 1950 feature film starring Jimmy Stewart. But lest we forget, the play was awarded a Pulitzer Prize before that, running on Broadway for more than four years. Noted for its engaging whimsy and its endearingly imaginative take on the human condition, Harvey endures in productions like this, mounted by the Community Players with committed locals and keeping theater alive in South Nashville. In the lead is Dave Shetler, who recently acquitted himself nicely in The Book of Liz at Actors Bridge. Heather Alexander, Joyce Jeffries, Heather Rutherford and Jason Sparks round out the cast.
Fridays-Sundays. Starts: May 1. Continues through May 15, 2009
