The Common Tiger w/Jack Berry and the Loaded Loot & The Holy Mountaintop Removers

When: Wed., May 28, 9 p.m. 2014
Price: $5
Finding 20 bucks in the jeans you were about to drop off at Goodwill; getting that letter about jury duty being canceled; hearing that gum you like is back in style. These are all swell surprises, but none of them beats getting your socks knocked off by a band you’ve never heard of, and we won’t be surprised if that happens to you with this bill, full of fresh faces. Local trio The Common Tiger turned in an impressive set at Road to Bonnaroo this March, with a little bit of psych-tinged prog and a little bit of heavy blues; Their EP When the World Moves On reveals a knack for old-school folk as well. Recent transplants Jack Berry and The Loaded Loot’s glossy, heavy-blues-tinged 2013 LP Heathen Heart features an ample supply of good hooks and riffs. If you were hoping for something completely different, Cookeville experimental trio Holy Mountain Top Removers have you covered, with an exploding plastic inevitable grab bag of jazz grooves and J.-Mascis-meets-Sonny-Sharrock skronks.
