I'm sure everybody in Nashville has a variation of this story, but I have a special affinity for The Clutters because they were the band that brought be back into the fold of Nashville's local rock scene. I spent two or three years on the outs, thanks to a combination of all of my favorite local bands breaking up – et tu, Silent Friction? – and realizing that I was too old to be hanging out at The Muse (which is to say, 18). While slumming it at a community college in 2005, I stumbled into Grimey's Fall Festival, where The Clutters proceeded to wreck my universe. Their sharply melodic, Stooges-inspired punk rock has an earworm quality unlike any other. Thanks, Clutters, for replacing the part of my brain I need to do math with the keyboard parts to “You'll Never Be Famous.” No, really, I mean it. Cy Barkley and Bad Touch are also onboard for this free show at East Nashville's diviest dive bar.
