"I consider the Beatles to be a great pop/rock group. The Stones music is still current. The Beatles music is somewhat dated."
I think that's largely because they're dead. You can hardly fault them for that...
Who knows what kind of reunion tours and new material they may have turned out had John Lennon not been assassinated. We'll never know... But at least we have the Stones!
Hope the benefit goes well but the subject itsn't worthy of debate. The Beatles outclassed and out-sold the Stones during the 60s - and continue to do so today despite disbanding 40 years ago. The Beatles have sold more than a billion records compared with 200 million by the Stones. This puts the Stones some way behind Abba and Led Zeppelin and possibly Queen, although those figures are disputed. More importantly, the Beatles were the real innovators in the 60s with the Stones lame copyists - All You Need Is Love and Sgt Pepper 'inspiring' the pathetic We Love You and Their Satanic Magesties. If the Beatles had rivals in the 60s, they were Dylan and the Beach Boys - not the Stones
For the definitive answer of which is the greatest rock band, see: http://bit.ly/ooxhUL
this band is an example of what makes Nashville proud, and exemplifies the name "Music City." I'm there.
I would say the Rolling Stones are the Greatest Rock Band in the world for a number of reasons: The Stones have dozens of top 40 hit songs- a record number of consecutive # 1 albums- best selling rock DVD ever (Four Flicks sold x 10 platinum) The Stones are the most enduring band- They have have garnered more publicity than any other rock band, and the Rolling Stones are the most successful touring band (combined tours) of all-time (A Bigger Bang alone made $550,000,000,). Critics tend to over-look that incredible feat!

Nikki was amazing, and the Alabama Shakes were AWESOME!!!!!!
I caught Lubriphonic in Chicago last Friday night. Gritty funky soul & blues! Not to be missed.
Tony Weeks and the Tony Weeks Band featuring Tony Weeks crack me up! They put on a great show
I picked up the CD yesterday out of curiosity - I had heard West play a few times at different venues in town and enjoyed it. I wondered how/if his live performance would differ from a studio work. I was THOROUGHLY pleased. My personal musical tastes usually are not jazz (I have to be in the mood for it). However, this album shows a versatility not typically found in jazz artists, and I believe it would appeal to most musical preferences. I eagerly look forward to the next two albums in the trilogy.
You really need to not miss this show. Not only is Lou a pivotal figure in Indie Rock, he puts on a great show with Tom and Raul. This is a rare opportunity to see Dinosaur Jr/Sebadoh fame in a close, and personal atmosphere. Very nice.
Great band---one of the reasons Nashville is aptly named "Music City." I'm there.
Awsome show! Swan Dive (Bill Demain and Molly Felder) and Richard Julian (with Brad Jones assisting on a vintage Danelectro bass) each hit it completely out of the park, walk-off grand slam for the good guys. Both artists are consistently brilliant, don't miss 'em when you get your next chance.
Was great! its nice to hear a band without vocals sometimes. quality music. The record release show was especially nice with Space Capone jumping in for one song.
Love your Music !!!! really cool songs. Great we have a record like this.

I disagree! Rock and roll may be "minimal" in some sense, but it is not ordinarily "minimalist." Minimalism implies a conscious parsimony in themes and instrumentation. It's an artistic conceit. Rock and roll does imply limits in instrumental possibilities and song structure, but I don't think these genre characteristics make it "minimalist."
Fred is absolutely fabulous. Yes, rough around the edges sometimes, but an insightful songwriter. And he's hilarious. His shows are always VERY entertaining. Go! Go!
I'm the guy behind the petition and the past three annual Gram Nationals held in Nashville ('10 was also two nights in Boston to commemorate 45 years since Gram formed the International Submarine Band there). Good to hear the tradition continues. We plan to hold the Gram (Inter)Nationals in three countries this year. BTW, Emmylou has already been inducted; the petition to induct her mentor into the CMHOF is at: http://www.gramparsonspetition.com. Also, please consider joining my two No Depression groups (both in the top 10 of 150 ND Groups) at http://www.nodepression.com/group/grampars… (Gram Parsons Project Board) and Area Code 615 at: http://www.nodepression.com/group/areacode…. Cheers, Will James, Gram Parsons Petition Project & Gram International
Can't wait to hear her - she is awesome!
This show was so awesome. Hymn For Her blew my mind. Screeching Eels were great. Lauren Adelle has an amazing voice. Andrew Van Boxel is a great songwriter. and Red River has SO MUCH SOUL! It was an honor.
