One of our favorite things about our city’s recent hip-hop explosion has got to be its unfettered and enthusiastic entrepreneurship — these new kids are serious about carving out their own niche, creating their own scene and cultivating their own culture. One of the upsides is that we have not only a fertile hip-hop community but a fertile hip-hop fashion community to keep us looking fresh (and keep us from sending our hard-earned scratch to the coasts.) It seems like every week we’ve got a new lookbook in our inbox, touting the latest in Music City threads. The Bakers Dozen — a partnership between local producer Ducko McFli and designer Josh Blevins — has got to be one of the best we’ve seen. The Bakers make their debut tonight at upstart streetwear boutique Love Is Earth with 13 slick, stylish shirts and two of our favorite local hip-hop acts, Openmic and Sam & Tre.
