That’s So Butch

Butch Walker has played for years, solo and with his bands South Gang and Marvelous 3, offering numerous major-label releases and demonstrating a knack for a pop hook. But it’s his work behind the boards that’s brought him riches (if not fame). Ironically, Walker filled his studio with all the cool equipment he’d ever wanted when his wallet got fat producing a passel of pop divas (Pink, Avril Lavigne, Lindsay Lohan, Katy Perry), but ran up against writer’s block. But after a wildfire destroyed the Malibu home he was renting from Flea, taking his stuff with it, the emotional dam broke. Sycamore Meadows poured out. It bubbles with bright, hummable hooks and ‘70s soft-rock polish, promising to be his most commercially successful disc to date.
