Weve been talking about doing something together around town for about a year, says Bryan Sutton, who promises some surprises in this first-time collaboration. And indeed, how could there not be? Whether hes playing rhythm or solos, Suttons one of the most brilliantand in-demandacoustic guitarists around, but he also wields the electric version, along with banjo and mandolin. And while Bullas best known as a gifted fiddle player (he currently holds the chair in the Jerry Douglas Band), hes a fine guitarist and a notably under-rated singer and songwriter. Each has roots in bluegrass and old-time musics of one sort or another, but neithers been boxed in by his background, underlining the inevitability of surprisesand of some wide-ranging and supremely enjoyable music.
