Tennessee Rep Benefit at Mercy Lounge

Staying Alive

Staying Alive
Not content to stand idly by while the economy stagnates, Tennessee Repertory Theatre staunchly continues its fundraising efforts. Two weekends ago it was a crafts and collectibles fair in partnership with FiftyForward. Now it's a concert headlined by Grammy winner Jim Lauderdale, with the irrepressible "Doyle and Debbie" (Bruce Arntson and Jenny Littleton) on board as the evening's hosts. Other musical guests include Alabama singer-songwriter Adam Hood (latest CD, Different Groove), multitalented singer-songwriter/film composer/fisherwoman/snowboarder/ actress/TV host Greta Gaines (2008's Whiskey Thoughts) and also Shelean Newman, whose classy acting and singing have made a marvelous contribution to Rep shows in the past. There's also a silent auction, featuring music industry memorabilia: a blouse worn by June Carter Cash, cookbooks signed by Barbara Mandrell, and more.
