The snug room in a strip mall at the corner of Old Hickory Boulevard and Highway 70 has the rare coziness and hominess often associated with meat-and-three dining, and yet, the food has a slightly more contemporary edge that is a welcome departure from country cooking. During the week, highlights include bountiful fresh salads and grilled sandwiches with combinations such as sliced turkey with pear and brie, or Italian cold cuts with cheese and banana peppers. At Sunday brunch, it’s all about the crème brûlée French toast.
