Talcum Fables at gallery F

Talcum in the Middle

Talcum in the Middle
In 2009, gallery F made a strong showing among Nashville's art galleries and received a nod in the Scene’s very own “Best of Nashville” issue. Gallery Director Sabine Schlunk is not one to rest on her laurels, and this year's initial offering bodes well for the coming months. Talcum Fables finds the Off the Wall artists’ group making use of unusual materials—talcum powder, for instance—to tell the stories that women tell to men, to each other and to themselves when they speak with the signs and symbols of feminine language. The show includes installation art, painting and photography by the individual artists, and most of the group's exhibits always seem to fit together as a whole as well. Off the Wall includes Jenny Luckett, Mahlea Jones, Jaime Raybin, Iwonka Waskowski and guest artists Nicole Baumann and Marcie Little.
