In recent years, the 80s hit country duo of sisters Kristine Arnold and Janis Gill usually surface only on the weekend after Thanksgiving, when they play a longstanding Friday night gig at the Bluebird Café (which they repeat again this year). But theyve been recording in anticipation of a 2009 album releasetheir first in 13 yearsso theyve added this live WRLT radio broadcast to their holiday weekend. A one-off show last summer proved that their groove-based acoustic music remains a bright representation of one of country-musics most interesting periods. Theyll be joined by Danny Flowers, whose Tulsa Time is one of the few songs claimed by both the classic rock and classic country canons, and its only the tip of a rich catalog of funky roots-rock. Flowers recent Tools for the Soul album finds the veteran on a spiritual quest uplifted by his steady-rolling rhythmic know-how.
