Sweet Chariot

It’s hard to overstate the importance of Nashville’s Fisk Jubilee Singers. Recipients of a 2008 National Medal of Arts, the world-class choral ensemble has kept the tradition of spirituals and field songs alive and in good voice since 1871. On Friday, they help celebrate Black History Month with this, their only local appearance of the year. Imagining what their forebears would feel seeing the inauguration of Barack Obama should give you chills—and these Singers will surely keep them coming.
