Media savant and cultural provocateur Marshall McLuhan once stated, "At the speed of light, policies and political parties yield place to charismatic images." Given sweeping changes in our recent political season, it's plain to see how relevant his insights remain. In Part II of her Photography Lecture Series--Is the Medium the Message?--Frist Center Executive Director and CEO Susan Edwards peers through McLuhan's lens to examine how photochemical images have changed the way we see the world and how today's digital technology is affecting our entire society in ways even Mr. McLuhan may not have been able to predict.
