Improv and stand-up comedy join forces this weekend for those seeking post-Christmas decompression. On Friday, Improv Nashville performs its family-friendly and creative flagship show; on Saturday, the company presents Mr. Magoo and You featuring artistic director Scott Field and Chicago improv veteran David Montgomery in a special two-person performance, followed by an improv jam session with other select improvisers. Showtime for both events is 8 p.m. On Sunday at 6 p.m., NashvilleStandUp.com's Chad Riden serves as host for touring professional stand-up comedians plus random sets from local comics and some open-mic action from daring wannabes. Featured guests for this performance are Renard Hirsch and Danny Limor. The Sunday showcases continue into the New Year with gigs on Jan. 4 and 11.
