Summer Guide '96

A comprehensive guide to one blooming season

A comprehensive guide to one blooming season

It is already upon us.

The heat. The humidity. The mosquitoes. The junebugs. The pollen. The swollen eyes. The itching. The rash.

Still, this is the summer we waited for, through all those false starts of springtime, the threat of snow at Easter, the blustery winds of March. After the winder of '96, we have vowed not to grumble. It's 102 outside already? No problem. We're grateful for anything.

That is the magic of summer. It comes just when we need it. From the front end, it looks wonderful. In June, we don't think of August. We forget that we will ever have any need for Fall.

Here, then, is the Nashville Scene's survival kit for the summer of '96. Ways to stay cool. Ways to stay fit. Ways to stay healthy. Ways to stay calm.

The long-awaited summer is upon is. Rejoice, but maintain your composure. It's not even June yet. It's too early to work up a sweat.
