Ted Swindley has made himself an interesting career in profiling the lives and music of noted performers (Patsy Cline, Kinky Friedman), but the writer/producer/director has a life of his own he means to explore onstage as well. Calling this new work “basically my
Glass Menagerie — a memory play about the relationship between me and my grandmother, who was an ultra-religious, right-wing Auntie Mame and quite a character,” Swindley has adapted his funny and poignant stories for the stage, to be presented in a narrative, storytelling style. The cast for this Metro Parks-sponsored staged reading includes Elizabeth Davidson, Rod Streng, Charles Yarborough, Charlynn Carter and Brian Schlanger. Bob Teague provides the incidental music.
