Still Life and Flesh

When: May 27-July 6 2012
When Blackbird Tattoo and Gallery flew the coop from its old 12South digs for a new space on Franklin Pike, its owners took a bad situation and made it work to their advantage. A casualty of the 12South neighborhood's grunge-to-glam renovation that also leveled the original Rumours wine bar, Blackbird needed to find cooler digs before the wrecking balls came crashing down. The new space provides an amazing showcase for the Blackbird crew and their particular brand of Nashville street art aesthetics and hurts-so-good inking. Blackbird joins M.L. Rose Craft Beer and Burgers (the former Melrose Pub, which should've changed its name to The 'Rose), Koi, Athens and the everlasting charms of Melrose Billiards (which I'll forever call The Golden Rail) in one of the West Side's best blocks. The space's latest art show, Still Life and Flesh, features abstract and figurative paintings by Hunt Adams, the contemporary oil portraits of Grace Sutherland and the eerie/erotic photography of 1000 — the husband-and-wife team of Chris and Angelique Moselle Price.
