Studio B continues its mission to bring art gallery culture to the 12 South neighborhood with this new show of paintings and sculpture by two artists whose work mixes well together. Steven Miller is a painter and photographer whose recent output marries his two loves--science and art--resulting in whimsical, colorful abstract canvases that come from an unlikely source. Although many painters begin their processes with snap shots or digital images, Miller finds his inspiration in photographs taken with an electron microscope. Despite the technique's mad-scientist overtones, his work pairs a light-hearted palette with voluptuous, abstract forms. Victor Schmidt's metal sculptures compliment Miller's paintings, combining equal parts silly and sexy in biomorphic abstracts. This reception ends earlier than the downtown Art Crawl, so make it your first stop.
