Southern Girls Rock 'n' Roll Camp Showcase

Southern Girls, You Got Nothing to Lose

Southern Girls, You Got Nothing to Lose
Six years ago, when the Scene put a young Jessi Wariner on the cover to commemorate the first Rock Camp, nobody could have known that she would eventually become Jessi Darlin, and that Those Darlins would become a national phenomenon. Since the camp started, it's morphed from the wild dream of one determined lady into a well-oiled, self-sustaining beast with a whole new crop of directors and volunteers, while former campers have grown into heavyweight scenesters sprinkled across the country: Jemina Pearl is a top-class Brooklyn scenestar, Kayley is a queen of Boston’s college-radio scene, and the girls that stayed local are pillars of the rock community. The program has proved its hypothesis in only a few short years, which begs the question: Who’s going to be the next breakout star from SGRRC? Show up and find out. Visit www.sgrrc.com for more info
