Leslie Keffer's recent departure from Betty's and the subsequent bummer it gave Nashville's experimental noise community proves that for every person who doesn't understand or appreciate sound art, there are tons of others who do. Along those lines, Kyle Baker and Aaron Doenges are bringing their third annual experimental sound art event to downtown Nashville. The first couple Sound Crawls worked like Art Crawl extensions that incorporated sound — experimental, electronic and often atonal — as art forms. They’ll be at the First Saturday Art Crawl again this year, but they've expanded the Sound Crawl to include an event on Sunday as well, and they've dubbed it “Art of the Future.” Expect live performances including Derek Webb's Feedback Project, visual art from Natalie Andrews, sound installations from local and nationally recognized noise art musicians — including a piece by the Scene's own Jack Silverman — and interactive video installations. Tickets are $5-$10, and $20 gets you a VIP pass that includes dinner and a digital download of the night's compositions.
