Nashville’s sixth annual Shades of Black Theatre Festival opened last week, and once again Music City’s African-American theater companies have banded together to present new plays and play readings, workshops, comedy and poetry, on weekends through Sept. 24. First up is this original work by Mary McCallum and her SistaStyle Productions, which offers an exploration of the lives of three women striving to navigate through the thicket of love, singlehood and survival in 2011. The cast features three stalwart actresses of the determined SistaStyle program — McCallum, Molly Breen and Tamiko Robinson.
