Shoot the Mountain & More at Mercy Lounge

Local four-piece Shoot the Mountain make the type of driving, ramshackle rock 'n' roll that one might be tempted to label "indie rock." True, the meaning of this moniker has become diluted and virtually insignificant in the past decade. But STM pull from the pages of early- and mid-'90s indie legends like Pavement, Modest Mouse and Superchunk, and they simultaneously channel influences like Gang of Four, Television, Talking Heads and other proto-punk giants. For all their eclectic callbacks, Shoot the Mountain retain a certain youthful zeal and ebullient passion for performance that’s enjoyable for fans of any generation of rock 'n' roll, so long as you can stand volume knobs set fully clockwise.
