Some of us have never made it out to Nashville Shakespeare Festival’s long-running monthly reading series, Shakespeare Allowed! (Well, one of these days …) It’s a Saturday gig, commencing at 11:50 a.m. at the Nashville Public Library downtown, where 16 chairs in a circle are filled by whoever wants to enact the Bard out loud. You can simply read along silently, if that’s your thing, but the presentation can always use crowd noises (and the like) from everyone present. This is a cool opportunity to exercise the high-culture muscle, do a little light dramatic performance and interact with likeminded literary souls. Copies of the play will be available, but it’s best to bring your own. It’s
Richard III this time around, so be prepared for royal megalomania and murderous doings.
