We recently received the press releases for the upcoming series of senior thesis exhibitions at Watkins, and the schedule is a doozy. Even if you can’t make every show, all of the Watkins exhibits offer a great opportunity to see the next wave of new creators in Nashville’s art scene as they get ready to make their marks in the real world. This first exhibition features work by Cristina Viscu, Melanie Clay and Gary White. Viscu’s Extropy explores human perceptions and perspectives, mixing media including photography and sculpture. Melanie Clay’s show mixes drawing and photography to reflect on her experience as a young cancer survivor. A Nashville native, White’s Ever Present explores the idea of the “Other” in Southern culture’s unique customs and history.
