Sarah Siskind at The Basement

Thus far, Sarah Siskind may only be known for providing Alison Krauss with her Grammy-winning single "Simple Love," despite having been a force on the contemporary folk circuit for most of the decade since her formal debut Covered in 2001. That notoriety has broadened somewhat since accompanying indie folk newbie Bon Iver on his latest tour—in which most shows ended with a tear-jerking a cappella rendition of Siskind's "Lovin's for Fools"—but still this Nashville starling has yet to taste a legitimate breakthrough. With her long-awaited studio follow-up Say It Louder due this spring, though, it's likely this unheard song bird will soon fly the cage into a well-earned spotlight. This is one chanteuse to keep an eye on.
