Originally scheduled for performances in June, the opening of Kenny Dozier’s production of this musical comedy had been put on hold until now. Author Javon Johnson tells the tale of a visionary pastor who tries to move his congregation forward but meets resistance. Dozier, who directs and also acts here, has additionally crafted seven original songs, and he’s gathered up about a dozen local actor-singers to put the music and humor across with style. The cast includes Ashley Bishop, Darius Willis, Elliott Robinson and Maurice Bullard. Musical direction is by Malcolm Dean. Nashville premiere.
