Rwake Me Up Before You Go-Go

Having originally formed under the name Wake in Little Rock, Ark., back in '97, Rwake spent their first decade plugging away regionally, self-releasing a series of cult-attracting demos and albums before eventually landing on Relapse Records. The mammoth scope of Voices of Omens, the band's most recent full-length, has propelled them to the ranks of the country's doom metal elite. With their nimble guitarwork, epic song lengths and careful calculation, Rwake reconcile the thrash and doom sides of the brain, bringing a subtle complexity to their arsenal. The sheer intensity of their live show is hard to anticipate but easy to admire.
