Room in the Inn Benefit feat. Eddie and Martha Adcock, Tom Gray, Claire Lynch, Valerie Smith, Jesse McReynolds, Jimmy Bowen and Sante Fe & more

When: Sun., Dec. 11, 7 p.m. 2011
Price: $15
If it’s December, it must be time for Eddie & Martha Adcock’s benefit show for the homeless, and the Bionic Banjoist and his longtime partner have outdone themselves this time, bringing along not one, but two of Eddie’s fellow bluegrass Hall of Famers (and musical iconoclasts):nimble bassist Tom Gray and iconic mandolin player, singer and Opry star Jesse McReynolds. Though there’s well over 150 years experience between the three of them, recent recordings (the Adcocks and Gray turned out a fine collection back in October, while McReynolds’ latest is a tribute to the Grateful Dead) show plenty of vitality — enough that their younger buddies will be hard-pressed to keep up. Still, between Valerie Smith’s boundless onstage energy, Claire Lynch’s sweet serenity and Bowen’s silvery tenor — not to mention the inevitable ad hoc contributions of other attendees — it promises to be a crowded enough show to merit the early start.
