Ronnie Bowman and the Committee

Run, Ronnie, Run

Run, Ronnie, Run
In a songwriting town, a hit writer whose singing falls outside of the mainstream gets more attention for the former than the latter. But while Ronnie Bowman has co-written some fine country hits for the likes of Brooks & Dunn and Kenny Chesney, he’s a singing sensation in the world of bluegrass. And for good reason: there’s no one who’s got exactly his blend of winsome, soulful and exuberant. His take on his own “It’s Getting Better All The Time” or Kristofferson’s “Please Don’t Tell Me How The Story Ends” on Adam Steffey’s brand-new CD are hauntingly nuanced, but he’s just as great ripping through a Reno & Smiley or Flatt & Scruggs classic. Featuring a band that includes a compelling singer in his wife, Garnet, and a sometimes shifting but always excellent set of pickers, this rare in-town appearance makes the perfect kick-off to the IBMA’s annual shindig.
