The Nashville Symphony's last classical series concert of 2009 spotlights the voice, featuring three guest singers and the marvelous Symphony Chorus in two masterpieces of the literature for chorus and orchestra. The beautiful Symphony of Psalms is one of the most enduring works of Stravinsky's neoclassical years, and Rachmaninoff reportedly ranked his 1913 grand orchestral setting of Poe's poem The Bells among his best works. The 1986 suite Le Tombeau d'Edgar Poe by noted opera composer Dominick Argento features solo voice with orchestra and continues both the Poe theme and the NSO's ongoing attention to recent American music. Admission is $15-$85.
