To cure brain freeze, simply put something ice-cold in the crook of your arm. Magic, right? There — we’ve armed you with pretty much all you need to enjoy one of Nashville’s favorite summer events. Folks from all over Middle Tennessee will compete cone-to-cone to crank up Music City’s tastiest and most original ice-cream flavor, with winners in each of four categories: chocolate base, vanilla base, fruit and the ever-exotic “other.” The best flavor overall will go on to ice-cold dairy glory, becoming an official Purity product in ice cream cases everywhere. Best of all, proceeds benefit the Martha O’Bryan Center, which has done the work of the angels providing meals for underprivileged Nashvillians for more than 100 years. Parking is free at Franklin Road Academy, Judson Baptist Church and Overton High School, with regular shuttle service. Admission is $13 adults, $10 children, free for kids under 2.
