The recent disbanding of local basement-punk luminaries MEEMAW was quite a blow to Nashvilles burgeoning DIY scene. Luckily, the bands co-frontman Wes Traylor has another project: Kintaro. And this endeavor is still intact to satisfy our hankering for East Bay-influenced pop-punk à la Screeching Weasel, Jawbreaker, F.Y.P et al. Where MEEMAW was a band that had exceptional songs held together by the thinnest of threads, Kintaro has exceptional songs bolstered by a tight rhythm section that backs up their brazen harum-scarum attitude with hard-hitting punch.
