Potholes, Parks and PRI

When: Wed., Oct. 30, 7:30 p.m. 2013
While a virtual battle may have been won with recent shutdowns in anonymous online drug black markets like Silk Road and Atlantis, the war on drugs is far from over. If you’re curious about the roots of Mexico’s drug war and how it’s played into current issues with immigration, drug trafficking and gang activity, Los Angeles Times reporter and author Sam Quinones will lead a discussion titled “Potholes, Parks and the PRI: One Reporter’s Understanding of the Roots of Mexico’s Drug War” at Casa Azafrán community center. A wine and cheese reception will immediately follow the talk, which is co-presented by Vanderbilt’s Center for Latin American Studies. The event is free and open to the public.
