This summer, the inaugural Porter Flea artisan market transformed an unassuming East Nashville intersection into a hive of crafts, music and food. For the winter incarnation, they’ve doubled in size — with more than 70 vendors this go-around — and moved over to the much larger indoor confines at East Park, where locally made goods, good food and food for thought are once again the orders of the day. With food trucks including Happy Eating (Japanese) and Yayo’s O.M.G. (Mexican), and makers as varied as Holler Design (handmade reclaimed-wood furniture) and Boss Construction (ace screen-printed posters), Porter Flea Holiday is a veritable bonanza of artisanal goodness, with the added bonus of a visit by the Type Truck, a refurbished step van with a functioning letterpress machine inside — think Hatch Show Print crossed with a food truck and you’re most of the way there. Rounding out the fun will be music courtesy of DJ Susan (who’s calling her set the 322-ROCK Block), The Groove’s John Moore and Spice J of The Protomen.
