A Slovenian a cappella group singing Toto’s “Africa”? Do we really need to say more to convince you to go see Perpetuum Jazzile’s TPAC performance this week? How about the fact that they re-create the sounds of a thunderstorm through handclaps and finger snaps? Or that said YouTube video has 11 million views and counting? They also do “Rosanna,” Billy Joel’s “Just the Way You Are,” a Bee Gees medley and an absolutely killin’ version of Van Halen’s “Jump” — but here’s hoping they’ll do a couple of numbers in their native tongue. And while we can’t entirely rule out the possibility of some jazz hands along the way, we feel strongly that for diplomacy’s sake, visiting international groups should get special dispensation from the gesticulation police.
