On the job Nashville-style with some of Music City's most recognizable work wear

Parts & Labor

Parts & Labor

As the poet Phillip Levine wrote, "If you're old enough to read this, you know what work is, although you may not do it."

And since we've got tools and manufacturing on the brain for this week's Fashion Issue — check out Abby White's story on what Nashville's fashion industry needs to survive — we headed down to Fort Houston and had our models suit up in some genuine Music City work wear. Included here: the Ryman's iconic maroon blazer; the elbow-greaser's favorite work shirts courtesy of Yazoo Brewery and Polly's Service Center; the Anna Sui-designed dress from Third Man Records; Emil Erwin's utilitarian apron from Barista Parlor.

Sure, we dressed up these uniforms a touch with some local flair — but they'll still get the job done.
