Paper Route w/Halfnoise

When: Sun., June 24, 8 p.m. 2012
Price: $10
Fans of anthemic, richly layered indie pop have much to be joyful about this week, — locals Paper Route will swing through for a hometown show amid their ongoing East Coast tour. The ascendant trio, who, I’ll note, have come a long, long way since selling their first EP on consignment at the now shuttered CD Warehouse on 21st (memories!), are re-emerging after a relatively quiet spell, during which they’ve been dogged by major label complications (a time-honored Nashville tradition) surrounding their sophomore LP, and a fair share of personal trials. Through it all, however, PR found ways to stay productive — singer J.T. Daly has just released Memory, and Chad Howat produced a record for Brooke Waggoner. Late 2011 also saw the band release “Better Life,” a sweeping yet direct preview of what we might expect to hear on The Peace of Wild Things, which will hopefully see the light of day before another new year draws nigh. Former Paramore member Zac Farro’s new band Half Noise opens. (Sadly, Paper Route buds Canon Blue had to drop off the tour due to leader Daniel James’ health concerns.)
